To Much Negativity.

I am an avid sports talk radio listener. It is a combination of loving sports and being too cheap to have a CD player or Satellite radio in my car. I can not get over just how much negativity there is on these shows, especially from the callers. Why are 90 percent of the callers so cruel and unhappy? Rarely do you see callers that are classy on the radio. The Paul Finebaum show is the worst at it. I love Paul Finebaum. The more I listen to him the more I think he is a great host. He can be rude and negative as well to the callers on the show but most of the times the callers deserve it. I think where Paul shines is when he does interviews. If you have a chance to hear him do an interview please do because there are not many better than Paul Finebaum.

But back to the negativity which is what is bothering me. What got under my skin recently was from the so called legendary caller Shane from Centerpoint. I have a feeling most listeners are like I am and cringe when he is on the show. I think he considers himself an expert when he is not even close to being one. Shane wrote an article bashing 10 media members. I really had a problem with this. Bashing the likes of Bruce Feldman, Tony Kornheiser, Brent Musberger, Tim Brando and others really bothered me. Sure these guys can get on your nerves from time to time. But this is there job. This is what they do for a living and I am sorry I think they do a great job. Bruce Feldman for example is a Senior Writer for ESPN. How hard do you think this guy had to work to get to where he is today? And Shane from Centerpoint is dogging him? What about Tony Kornheiser? Who cares that the guy probably didn't play sports. He can still be an expert. This guy has been in the business for nearly 40 years! I am curious why Shane and others like Shane make it necessary to point out fault after fault on media members.

I think these guys have worked very hard to get to where they are today and have earned the right to voice there opinion. Sure we don't have to agree with what they say every time. But I don't know why we think we have the right to question these guys’ credentials and make personal attacks on them. This is just something that has been bothering me lately. I really try to find the good in people. I respect the media members and what they had to do to be where they are today. I wish other people would do the same.
